Success Routines For Influential Leaders
As an influential leader, there are a number of ‘must-have’ traits you need to possess; confidence, strength, and self-discipline to name a few. Another trait that comes to mind is consistency. You can’t really be a leader if you’re all over the place and inconsistent with the delivery of your life. What does that mean exactly? Let me break it down.
In leadership, you’re expected to fulfill a role that would cause others to look up to you as a guide, a role model. If you’re showing up to work at random times, hit or miss on meeting deadlines for projects, or your appearance goes back and forth from ‘put together’ to ‘falling apart’, then the people who look up to you are likely going to model that same behavior.
This is why having success routines is VITAL to being a leader, especially a high-performing one. While winging it may seem like the less stressful approach, it’s not. Having a routine eliminates the majority of unknowns and sets you up for success from the moment you wake up.
Take making your bed for example. By making it routine to make your bed first thing in the morning you have started your day with an accomplishment! Your mindset is then set to success mode within the first hour of starting your day.
Routines help us to have a clear definition of our day, leaving little room for error (minus the uncontrollables). It lowers our stress level because we know, for the most part, what to expect and how we will handle situations. No more guesswork! You have the appearance AND the habits of being driven, motivated, and consistent. Sounds a lot like a leader, huh?
If routines are not a part of your day-to-day life, make them a part of it. Start small, like making your bed, and work your way up to developing routines in other areas of your life.
