Growth Mindset: Overcoming Challenges

Whether you’re an entrepreneur growing your own business, or an executive making a stance in your industry, one thing rings true for success across the board and that is your mindset. 

Think of your mindset as the foundation of your success. If you’re full of confidence and motivation then you’re going to put forth your best efforts. If you’re fearful and doubtful then you will likely be less ambitious and it will impact your performance. That’s why mindset matters. All of your actions and ideas stem from your overall mindset.

2020 has been a year packed full of challenges. From navigating the global pandemic to processing civil unrest, this whole year has tested our truest strengths and it has been a difficult year, to say the least. But what does a high achiever such as yourself do when faced with challenges? 

Adapt and overcome.

It all comes down to your mindset and how you’re staying grounded and motivated during these trying times. Just because the world is “on pause” right now doesn’t mean that you should stop looking towards the future or lose sight of your goals. In fact, now is a PRIME TIME to up your game and bring your success to the next level! But first, let’s discuss how to overcome mindset challenges so that the foundation of your success is smooth and supportive.

Change up your routines/processes

Times are changing and what used to work might not work as well anymore. If you’re noticing a falling performance in your routines or processes, change them up a little. Whether it be your morning routine or the steps you take to complete a task at work, modifying just one thing can rejuvenate your mindset.

This doesn’t have to be a drastic change. It can be a simple, gentle adjustment to your habits. For instance, if you start your workday in a routine of checking your email first, maybe try re-organizing 3 things on your desk before checking your email. This will create a ‘fresh’ environment and break up the mundane routine a bit.

Use Essential Oils

Aromatherapy is a simple and effective way to improve your mindset. Certain essential oils have been scientifically proven to encourage specific moods, improve focus, or relieve stress. Using a diffuser is my personal favorite way to use essential oils, but they work just as well dabbed onto your neck.

There are many different brands to choose from when selecting what essential oils to use for aromatherapy, but doTerra is my highest recommendation. Their quality supersedes all other brands making me a long-term customer of doTerra for years to come. I especially like their Align Blend to help encourage a calming environment around me which in turn helps to boost my confidence and overall mindset.

Map out your challenges

The largest part of overcoming mindset challenges is to face them. Ignoring the problem only means it will linger. Instead, confront your challenges and map out how you will navigate them to your best advantage. Focus on the things you can change rather than the uncontrollables that you can’t. 

Start by journaling about a challenge you’re facing currently. Next, create two columns: one column is things you can’t control about the situation; the other column is things that you can control about the situation. For the things, you can’t control, accept them. For the things, you can control, create a plan to implement those changes. When you feel your mindset slipping, refer back to that list and the plan you have in place and make it happen!

We all face mindset challenges at some point in our lives. The important thing to do is to recognize those challenges as learning curves and use them as a way to improve and grow.
