My mother always told me to eat a good breakfast. Yours may have, too. Of course, one of the reasons she did was because it was important to fuel my body with good food to begin my day. As it relates to your image, we’ve adapted that philosophy. Just like eating a healthy breakfast to begin the day, we believe that what we do with the first (and last) 30 minutes of our day is essential to our happiness and well-being (our attitude & energy).
Let’s begin with the first 30 minutes of the day. Years ago, my husband and I used to turn the news on first thing in the morning. Our heads being filled with negativity. Not so great. On that note, we now listen to uplifting music and each of us has our own practice of prayer/meditation to begin our day balanced and centered. Then it’s on to a healthy breakfast with no sugar. Any nutritionist will tell us that when we begin our day with sugars and starches, that is what we will crave for the balance of the day. It’s the same thing with our mindset -beginning with positive thoughts and practices.
Now for the last 30 minutes of the day. Think of it as positively preparing for your sleep experience. Are you watching programs that may be sad or violent? Think about what that may be doing to your psyche when you’re sleeping. I do my best (not perfect by all means) to end my day doing or reading something that will create a positive mindset for sleep. Chicken Soup For the Pet Lover’s Soul. Some stretching. A warm bath with lavender essential oil. Snuggles with my hubby. You get the idea.
Are there practices that you might need to change? I challenge you to make one small modification for morning and one for nighttime. Bet you’ll be calmer and happier.
Here’s to your healthy image!
