5 Ways to Prepare for a Successful New Year

5 Ways to Prepare for a Successful New Year

The new year is just around the corner. Have you set yourself up for success? Use these 5 ways to get prepared for a successful new year:

1. Look back on your year and write down your accomplishments

Reviewing the past year before entering a new one is a great way to identify the areas of your life that are ‘on-point’ so you can celebrate your wins.. Your sense of accomplishment as you enter the new year will be at its peak, fueling you with the confidence to achieve exactly what you want.   (hint:  I use my calendar as a way to revisit my year.)

2. Make a vision map

A vision map is a useful (and creative) tool you can leverage throughout the upcoming year so you stay focused on your goals and reach them successfully. To make one, all you need is a pen and 4 pieces of paper. On each page write out your goals for the corresponding quarter along with any reflections you have of the previous year (refer to #1) that would help you successfully reach those goals. Having this visual map will be useful to refer back to throughout the new year so that you have a clear picture of the things you will be accomplishing.  (hint:  I like to get creative with mine by adding color and pics.)

3. Review your habits

This is going to take some self-reflection and will aid you in many ways. Taking a look at all your habits – yes, even the bad ones – can help you shape what habits you want to take into the new year. You’ll want your habits to reflect the success you’re working towards.  Take note of the areas that need improvement and make a plan for improving them while at the same time adopting new habits.  (hint: I always tie a new habit I want to implement to an existing habit as a trigger reminder for the new habit.)

4. Change up your surroundings

Your surroundings have a direct impact on your overall mindset, and if there is one thing that is key to success it is your mindset. In fact, Psychology Today reports that rearrangement of your surroundings can have a direct impact on your overall mood and instills a sense of effectiveness. Even a simple act such as adding fresh flowers to your desk each week can keep your mindset lifted thus motivating you for daily success.  (hint:  I add fresh flowers weekly and experiment with different essential oils in my diffuser.)

5. Plan a wellness routine

Above all else, in order to be successful, you MUST take care of yourself. Incorporating a wellness routine into your new year will provide you the blueprint to caring for your most important asset, you. Exercise, drinking water, monthly massage, daily skincare, or regular trips to your favorite coffee shop are all part of your wellness routine and should be planned accordingly for your schedule in the new year.  (hint:  put everything on your calendar and make your wellness non-negotiable!)

A great 2021 is guaranteed no matter your circumstances.  You will take the reigns of your life and show up for yourself, once and for all!!

What will you do differently (or the same) in the new year??
